Read to Self

We are learning to read to self. This builds our reading stamina and helps us to get better at reading. We also have lots of fun reading!

Success Criteria

  • I read quietly
  • I concentrate on the book
  • I stay in space
  • I read the whole time
  • I get started straight away

How I am going

Read to self
Kerri thinks

I really like: you get to read books.

I think I need to practice: being quiet.

Fantastic, honest reflection Jaxon. When you focus on your book you enjoy reading. Remember to choose enough books so you can stay in place during read to self.

We are learning to build our confidence in and around the water. We practise our swimming skills and love to show off our new tricks.

This is what I have been practising:
Safe entry into the pool (1/4 turn entry)

Submerge and blow bubbles

Float on my back (Starfish)

Pick up objects with my hand

Rocket arms on my front

I am really proud of: myself because I can do rocket arms both ways

It is tricky when: floating on my front because you have to push your stomach up and sometimes you get tired

The next thing I want to learn is: doing arm circles in the pool
You are a great swimmer Jaxon and I love how you have practised the parts you found tricky like starfish floating. Remember to listen and follow instructions even when you are in the pool and there is loads of fun stuff going on. I think arm circles are the next step for your learning. I hope we can get back into the pool this year so we can have a go.
